” A stodgy parent is no fun at all.
What a child wants and deserves is a parent who is SPARKY. “
Roald Dahl, Danny The Champion of the World.
I chose these two photos of a father playing with his three year old from a recent shoot, because I thought it captured the way that fathers naturally play with their children.
Without wishing to resort to stereotypes, I do find, especially on photo shoots that they tend to be much more physical in their play. And apparently it’s a fact, research says they do play differently – they’re more likely to rough and tumble, more willing to let children take risks as they climb trees and play with fire (literally), and they don’t bother with baby talk. However we all know that modern fathers do so much more than this. It’s not enough just to offer shoulder rides and football, Dads are also deeply involved in every little aspect of their childrens’ lives whether it’s nail painting, creating packed lunches, homework strategies, persuading them to eat their greens, cheering them up, or cleaning up their grazed knees, to name just a few.
